The 90’s are commonly referred to as the gold rush era for the internet. Anyone with a dream and a small amount of money could register a domain name. It was during this time that our CEO Carl Bootsma knew the internet was going to be a hit. With a focus on community pages, times were great and the internet boom had started.
Then the dot-com bubble came in 2001. Times were tough and Carl transitioned his business model to focus exclusively on computer repair. Heartland Computers moved to Sioux Falls and it seemed his internet days were over. In 2011 while reading online reviews he noticed there were very few restrictions. Practically anyone anywhere could write a review. In addition, he found websites that seemed to give preferential treatment to companies that paid for services. Fed up and knowing something needed to be done the challenge was on. The goal: to make a community page were only locals could post reviews and rate businesses in a defined area and limit users to just one account.
During the summer of 2013 605Web.com Inc. was created and the company purchased LocalBest.com from its previous owner and selected a number of other domain names for development including TrustedScores.com, UnderCoverReviews.com, and VotedLocalBest.com just to name a few. With transparency and regulations, the company has set the new standard for online review and rating websites.
As we look towards the future our focus on customer satisfaction, community involvement, and product innovation will help guide LocalBest.com to be the new gold rush website of the future.
